Life Happens

Choose progress over perfection.

There are times that you think : “Will my life ever be normal?”

Let’s face it, when you face your challenges your not in your comfort zone at all, but I made a choice when stepping out of my comfort zone, to step out with confidence, not fearing the challenges ahead.

I made a choice to see my challenges as an opportunity. It is my choice to turn negative situations into positive, by not focusing on the negative.
By choosing to be positive, it helps me live a normal life.

When growing up with Cerebral Palsy, has it’s challenges in mobility, balance, vision, and communication to name a few things, but the hardest part was acceptance. Not feeling valued or understood by my peers, teachers or doctors.

Told that it would be impossible to do things like ride a two wheeled bike. Well, I did prove them. Wrong, I found my strategy and I can ride a two wheeled bike and now have moved on to driving motor cycles. I was told that I would not be able to drive a car. Well, they were wrong! by having strategies in place I independently drive my own car.

Yes, there will always be that person to throw stones, saying you can’t or believe that you are unable to live a full life due to your limitations. or what they see as your limitations are.

For me what is perceived as my limitation I would say that is a strengthen.

Why do I think that or even say that?

Every day I have to think outside the box, think creatively, work out what would work for me to complete a task. I see each challenge as an opportunity, by this I am learning and growing to reach my goals that I want to achieve.

This can apply to everyone weather you are a person that lives with a disability or not.

I do agree that living with a disability does change what we might able to do one day but not the next and we have to be creative in our thinking to find the strategies to get to reach our goals in life. But that does not limit or make us less than.

That is one challenge with Cerebral Palsy, I just keep coming up with a new strategies, being creative and keep trying until it works. Life changes, life happens and we find the strategy to accomplish our goals.

Each and everyone’s has a personnel journey that is unique. Be proud of who you are and how far you have come in your journey of life. When you realize it’s ok to be different then you will find your life is normal.

When life seems to get rough remember that it takes those stones to build your own story.

Take life one day at a time, one step at a time.

You got this!
